The first series of hybrid Chevrolet

The first hybrid vehicle under the brand Chevrolet - Chevrolet Volt - will become a serial in 2010.

This was stated at a press conference in Detroit vice-president of General Motors, Bob Lutz. According to him, a hybrid that exists now only as an "empty" concept (without the power plant), in serial form will look less aggressive approach and style to the current range of Chevrolet. The first prototypes with engines and batteries, which will be the initial run, will appear in mid-spring 2008.

GM plans that Chevrolet Volt will be competing Toyota Prius, the dominant market hybrids in the U.S.. But the main problem for the American concern is the battery: a cordless unit, which is scheduled to install Volt now, provides no more than 65 km run.
