South Korean automakers Hyundai Motor in 2009 with plans to begin mass production of vehicles with hybrid power plants.
As the president of Hyundai-Kia Mon Ku Chung, the company plans to begin serial production of environmentally friendly cars in 2009. According to him, in 2012 with production scheduled to begin on a limited number of electric vehicles.
In accordance with the development plans, the company will start mass production of a compact car Elantra LPI. This hybrid car uses two sources of energy: liquefied petroleum gas and electricity.
At present, the pilot project, Hyundai Motor Co. Verna produces hybrid model for government agencies.
Companies Hyundai and Kia in 2005, sent to state organizations 350 hybrid vehicles, including model Verna. The volume of supply data vehicles in 2006 totaled 730 units in 2007 - 1682.
