BMW and Daimler begin joint production of hybrid plants

Two German avtokontserna - Daimler AG and BMW - have decided to join forces in the development of hybrid technology.

As previously reported, Daimler committed a breakthrough in the adaptation of lithium-ion batteries. Developing applied to the executive class model Mercedes S400 BlueHybrid, was shown at the motor show in Geneva. Under the cooperation agreement BMW also will have access to innovation. According to the newspaper RBC daily ", Concern have two financial agreements under which BMW had contributed to the development costs in order to gain access to lithium-ion technology after Daimler.

Worth mentioning that lithium-ion batteries significantly superior to their performance today applied to hybrid power platforms Nickel-Hydride. They are lighter, compact and efficient. However, their propensity to overheat when working makes them insecure and excluded the possibility of their mass use. Innovation was to deploy a battery under the hood and its integration with climate-control system, which, in turn, supports the working temperature range from 15 to 35 degrees Celsius.

Green VW Golf

At the Geneva motor show world premiere was held hybrid Volkswagen Golf. Model Golf TDI Hybrid uses a combination of high-tech power unit, diesel, electric motor and seven automatic gearbox DSG. Conceived able to work in three modes: using only the internal combustion engine, only electric power source or both simultaneously. Coming in the latter mode, fuel consumption is only 3.4 l/100 km.
